Location: The 1909

Hours of Coverage: 6hrs

Alexis & Spencer reached out to me to photograph their beautiful wedding at a newer Los Angeles Wedding Venue called ‘The 1909’ which is located in Topanga Canyon.

This intimate venue is perfect for couples looking to host a smaller, more personal event space. This venue is packed with small nooks and crannies that are perfect for intimate couple photos after your ceremony.

Be prepared to bring warm clothing if you have your wedding here in the Fall or early Winter. Because it’s nestled so tightly within a canyon, the sun does go down rather early here. Be sure your photographer (hopefully me 🙂 ) is prepared with lights to make sure all details are captured the best they can be!

Feel free to click into any of these gallery photos and view them in their full elegance (the gallery tends to crop the tops and sides of images a little bit). If you have any questions about this venue or about booking my services, please feel free to use my contact page to get in touch!

Location: Big Sur, California

Houston has been a close friend of mine for a while. When he told me he was planning on proposing to his then-girlfriend Hannah, I was so excited. We decided on a place and time to meet up while he and Hannah took an “on a whim” vacation up to Big Sur.

It took a ton of coordination to make it all work since there was no service in the area where he was planning on proposing. I scouted the location a day prior and decided that everything was all set and perfect. We texted back and forth the details of the time and place, and I sent him photos of where to propose. I rented a 1200mm lens to get spy shots from almost a 1/4 of a mile away!

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t want to play nice. When I scouted the area, it was perfectly clear with a gorgeous sunset. We weren’t so lucky, and everything got fogged in, so much so that Houston didn’t exactly propose in the area that we had planned! But it all worked out. We got the shots and they came out to be moody and gorgeous.

Tips for doing an engagement session in Big Sur.

  • Plan ahead and check the weather (although it probably won’t be what it says it’ll be).
  • Bring a jacket (because weather rarely behaves)
  • Always check for ticks after you’re done shooting (there were a ton where we shot)
  • Have fun, enjoy the sights, and don’t take the shoot too seriously 🙂

Here’s a quick list of places we shot:

Just South of Arroyo De Los Chinos

Limekiln State Park & Falls

Treebones Resort

Sand Dollar Beach

I hope these tips help you if you’re looking to do some shots up in the Big Sur area for your engagement session!

Location: Hope Ranch Beach, Santa Barbara, CA
Time of Day: Evening / Sunset

The story of Alicia & Travis is so cute, it’s almost unbearable. Alicia & Travis met in high school in Santa Barbara. They didn’t hit it off. As a matter of fact, Alicia didn’t really like Travis all that much. But as time went on and they spent more time with each other, Alicia became accustomed to Travis’s presence, and after being asked out nine, that’s right NINE times, she finally agreed to go out with him. While I would love to continue on with so many more stories that I heard during their session, I’m going to leave it as ‘they lived happily ever after,’ and now they’re getting married! I’m so excited to photograph their wedding this upcoming August 🙂
